The effect of pelleted fertiliser "Kemira" and the liquid fertiliser "Vito-Silva" on the root development and mycorrhization of container stock of pine are compared in this paper. A dose of 7 g per container tray in 8 replications over the growing season as compared to other doses is found to increase the growth in height and mass of the aboveground parts and roots of seedlings. The same is true for the root morphological indices (root length, root surface area, number of root tips). However, the pelleted fertiliser is found to stimulate mainly the growth of lateral roots. When assessing the growth of fine roots the advantages of the liquid fertiliser "Vito-Silva" are apparent. The liquid fertiliser in combination with the basic fertiliser PG-mix promotes the growth of light-coloured bunch-like mycorrhizas (having smooth fungi mantle).
