Effect of sowing patterns on the growth and seed yield of sunflower variety HO-1

The treatments included four planting patterns i.e. T1=Flat bed x 75 row spacing, T2=Flat bed x 90 cm row spacing, T3=Ridge system x 75 cm w spacing and T4=Ridge system x 90 cm row spacing. All the cultural practices and inputs including fertilizers, irrigation and other plant protection measures were carried out as per the recommendations of Oilseeds Botanist, Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam. For observations were recorded on the basis of five randomly selected plants in each plot. The results revealed that sowing patterns had significant effect on all the growth and yield contributing characters of sunflower variety HO-1. Ridge system and wider spaced plants showed improved growth and seed yield performance than flat bed system and narrow row spacing. Ridge system x 90 cm row spacing resulted significantly maximum values for plant height (213.3 cm), days to flowering (70), days to maturity (108.3) head diameter (20.38 cm), number of seeds (1291 per head).
