The study was carried out on the population development of pulse beetle, Callosobruchus analis Fab., on different pulses in the laboratory. Eight different pulses grains viz., Gram, Greer gram, Lentil, Vetch, Urad, Kidney bean, black gram and lima bean were used. A grain sample of 200 grams of each pulse were kept in separate plastic jars. Ten pairs (male and female) of same age of Callosobruchus analis were released in each jar of respective pulse. The matter of jars were covered with muslin cloth and banded with rubber strips. The experiment was designed in four replicates. Observations' were recorded regularly at fortnightly inter-gals, in which a number of only alive adult pulse beetles were counted. For calculating the losses in weight, the remaining quantity of grains of each pulse left at the end of the experiment was weight. The final weight of broken grains was deducted from the initial weight of each sample and loss percentage was calculated.
