Influence of organic amendments on the reproduction of Meloidogyne incognita and growth of brinjal plants
2008
Malik, D.A.
Brinjal root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White, 1919; Chitwood, 1949) was isolated from soil and root samples of infected brinjal plants collected from different brinjal fields. The results regarding effect of organic amendments revealed that the brinjal plant growth was significantly increased and gall development in brinjal roots, multiplication of female, larvae and male of brinjal root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita in infected brinjal roots and soil was decreased in case of different organic amendments in soil as compared to without amended soil. The shoot and root length and weight was increased as the amendment dose was increased. The development of nematode galls on brinjal roots were significantly reduced when plants grown in the soil amended with organic amendments.
