The aim of the study was to evaluate the ability of lactic acid bacteria strains to lower the aflatoxin B1 content in the environment. The strains examined are deposited in the culture Collection of Industrial Microorganisms in IBPRS(Institute of Agricultural an Food Biotechnology) and are assigned as components of the probiotic, preparations for ensiling of animal feeds and baker's starters. The screening studies concerned ten strains of Lactobacillus genus, from among which there were selected five strains that lowered the level of aflatoxin B1 in the culture media most effectively: L. buchneri, L. fermentum and L. plantarum three strains. After 24, 48 and 72h of the selected strains cultivation at 30 deg C the content of aflatoxin B1 in the media was lowered to 47.0 = 57.0 percent of its initial value, depending on the strain examined and the toxin initial concentration
