Dynamics of moisture contents in the upper soil layer at different systems of tillage

The research aimed at determining the influence of different systems of tillage on moisture content in the upper soil layer. In the treatment with direct sowing into uncultivated soil a layer of mulch got formed on the soil surface. Water content in the soil ranged from several to a dozen or so percent. In the fourth and fifth year of the experiment soil moisture was determined in soil samples taken at ten points of each treatment from 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm layers. In most measurement terms significantly higher water contents were found in the treatment with direct sowing
