Simulation and optimization models for complex water resource systems are becoming essential tools in analysis of such undetermined systems. Here is presented in the case of Barje reservoir model MODSIM, ACQUANET version. Barje reservoir is planned to respond to existing and growing demands for water supply and irrigation in lower part of Veternica river in southern Serbia. Also, in changing conditions of the river, reservoir should provide flood protection and ensure ecological minimum requirements. Use of ACQUANET for different allocation strategies provide insights in the water allocation dynamics during four-year period.
