N, P, K, Ca and mobile aluminium content of vertisol as affected by fertilization system and winter wheat genotype

A study was conducted to evaluate the contents of total nitrogen, available forms of phosphorus, potassium and calcium and mobile aluminium in vertisol as affected by different fertilization systems and winter wheat genotypes. The study was undertaken at a stationary trial field of the Small Grain Research Centre in Kragujevac (Serbia). The soil was heavily textures and has a coarse unstable structure and unfavourable chemical properties (low pH, phosphorus and calcium deficiency and an increased mobile aluminium content). Standard chemical methods were used to analyze the contents of major biogenic elements (N, P, K, Ca) and mobile Al in the arable soil layer (0-20 cm). The soil contents of major nutrients (N, P, K, Ca) and mobile Al varied, depending on fertilization system and genotype. The tested element content of the soil cultivated with winter wheat genotypes varied substantially.
