The paper emphasizes role of the scale model investigations in a 3-dimensional flow analysis in objects of great complexity. A junction of two large sewer pipes, which operate under Belgrade combined sewer system (Serbia), was subject of an examination - results are presented and briefly discussed. The collision of supercritical flows, that possess a significant amount of kinetic energy, in an object of great complexity, produce intensive turbulent spatial flow. Modelling efforts were focused on determination of flow capacity and hydrodynamical load on the object parts which are exposed to direct flow impact.
