This paper presents side-by-side analysis of procedures for estimation of the maximum fluctuating force acting on slabs beneath a hydraulic jump. In the first procedure the force is calculated by taking into account only the load above the slab, while the second procedure includes the hydrodynamic load above and below slabs, simultaneously. Analysis shows that the second procedure gives significantly greater estimation of the fluctuating force. Authors give an approximate formula for estimation of the fluctuating force on the slabs in the stilling basin.
