Nitrogen nutrition in organic farming is based on natural soil fertility, which can be increased by growing legumes, composting of plant residues and by applying green and animal manure, and other types of organic fertilizers. In order to assess mineralizing capacity of organic fertilizers, we investigated: manure (FYM); guano (G); forage pea seed (P); soybean seed (S). Results showed that organic fertilizers have different composition, which affected mineralizing capacity and its ability to supply plants with mineral N. Special consideration need to be given to the timing and intensity of management practice when trying to meet nutrient management goals. Calculation of the amount of organic fertilizers, should be based on its mineralizing ability, i.e. content of potentially mineralizing N.
