Recomanded, tenhold and one hundredhold doses of sulphonylurea herbicides (nicosulphuron and foramsulphuron) were incorporated in soil and incubated in conditions of constant moisture and temperature. Microbial C biomass and number of bacteria were estimated 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after herbicide application. On the bases of values of C biomass (representing the total amount of microorganisms in soil) and number of bacteria (as a part of total amount of microbial population) it was determined that microorganisms possesss the potential to degrade nicosulfuron and foramsulfuron, and they could be applied in bioremediation of soil treated with this herbicides.
