[Scientific substantiation of biological potential realization of alfalfa in the Central part of the North Caucasus]

Field experiments were done in 1996-2005 in the Republic North Ossetia-Alania in 3 areas differing by ecological conditions: on a chestnut soil in a dry zone (1), on carbonate chernozem in a zone of inefficient moistening (2) and on leached chernozem in a zone of efficient moistening (3). Different mineral fertilizers, including molybdenic, boric ceolite-like clays Irlit-1 and Irlit-2, active strains of nodal bacteria were used at growing of zoned varieties of Medicago sativa. Ecological factors which influence to the maximum extent on effective symbiotic nitrogen fixation and productivity of M. sativa were found out for each of the areas and proper practices were developed to increase the crop performance. Preplanting seed treatment by Irlit-1 and inoculation of the preparation Rizotorfin on the base of the Rhizobium strain 425a have been recommended for the all areas. Topsoil humidity needs to remain no less than 60% of the prewatering moisture threshold and mobile P content needs to be reached up to 40 milli gram/kg of soil in the area (1). Mobile P content has to be the same in the area (2) as in the area (1) and it needs to be reached up to 130 mg/kg of soil. The suggested practices allow to increase air nitrogen fixation up to 600, 190 and 220 kg/ha and to do M. sativa hay yield up to 18 000, 7 500 and 10 000 kg/ha in the areas (1), (2) and (3) respectively. At this hay and plant protein of hay are notable for their low prime cost. Seed productivity of M. sativa has been increased in 2.10-2.25 times due to optimization of mineral nutrient.
