The study involved old women suffering gastro-intestinal diseases who had osteopenia of the neck of the femur or lumbar vertebrae was found out by osteodensitometry. The main group covered 12 female patients, the comparison group - 11 female patients. The average age of the female patients was 62.7 years in the main group and 66.4 years in the comparison group. The patients of the main group in addition to the main high protein ration received a specialized product. Its daily dosage contained calcium – 50%, protein – 20%, phosphorus – 30%, potassium and magnesium – 19-25%, biotin – 100%, other minerals and vitamins (11 in all) – 17-60%. The intake length was 1 month in hospital and 5 months at home. In home rations the total amount of fat exceeded that recommended by 40%, the consumption of calcium approached to the recommended level, phosphorus – exceeded it 1.4-1.5 times. The consumption of vitamin A and vitamins of group B did not reached the standard; vitamin C- exceeded it 1.4-1.8 times. Before the experiment in 50-58% of patients the content of protein did not reach the required level. Due to adding the specialized product the number of such patients decreased 4.5 times. Under effect of the specialized product the concentration of vitamin C in blood increased, there was no improved supply with vitamins A and E, B2 and D. The concentration of parathormone in blood serum in patients of the main group decreased by 3.4%, oesteocalcin – by 4.7%. The state of bone tissue slightly improved. The ratio of calcium and phosphorus in the ration shifted to the optimum. It is concluded that the specialized product positively influenced the health of the patients, but did not eliminated fully the deficit of some vitamins. It is advisable to develop the specialized product with specified chemical composition with reference to specific requirements of concrete category of patients.
