The requirement of different breeds of quail in nutrients has been studied at the quail breeding farm. It is found that the feeding of animal compound feed with a low level of crude protein (22% at a rate of 27.5%) insignificantly affected the performance of young growing quails. The difference in live weight between authentic Japanese and Estonian breeds and was in the experimental groups 12.2 g (P 0.01) between Japanese and English - 29,3 g (P 0,001). Obviously, long-term selection (more than 15 years) conducted on diets with protein level of 17% (22,5% for young animals), resulted in a decrease in protein requirement of quail. The viability of Japanese quail breeds was statistically significant and it was 91% in control and experimental groups, the one of the Estonian breed was 89 and the British breed was 80-88%.In addition, the chicks of Japanese breed differed better growth rate and lower feed conversion efficiency to 1 g of weight gain
