Studies on the vegetative propagation of dwarf lantana varieties (lantana montivedensis l.)

Three experiments were conducted in a nursery to study the effect of using rooting hormone Indole butyric acid on different concentrations and different vegetative propagation on rooting of different varieties of Lantana montivedinsis at different seasons (summer, winter and kharief). Three types of vegetative propagation namely, simple layering, tip cuttings and hard wood cuttings. Four different concentrations of rooting hormone (IBA, 0, 2000, 4000 and 6000PPM ) the rooting forming ability of cutting and layering was evaluated to terms of number of roots, rooting percentage, number of both roots and leaves, roots length and percentage of rooting success. The results revealed that there were marked differences in rooting abilities at different concentrations of rooting hormones. 4000 PPM tended to give the best rooting followed by 6000 PPM and the lowest one is 2000PPM. Highest value of cutting was recorded from hard wood cuttings and the best season observed kharief, winter, and finally summer
