Zinc and copper have been determined in muscle and livers of pheasants (Phasianus colchicus). The samples of muscle and liver were analysed using atomic absorption spectrometry method (AAS) and expressed on a wet weight. The pheasants (n=7) were shot by hunters in the defined area in Eastern Slovakia or killed (n=6) without shooting. The shot pheasants had highest mean concentration of zinc and copper in liver, breast and leg muscle in comparison to killed pheasants. The highest mean values of zinc (236.91 mg per kg) and copper (15.70 mg per kg) were detected in liver of shot pheasants. On the other hand, the killed pheasants had lover mean concentrations of zinc (190.50 mg per kg) and copper (13.38 mg per kg) in liver.
