The work deals with comparison of time consumption by pruning by hand and pruning with using of machines for pre-pruning by grapevine. Experimental measurements were performed at cutting of 4 white and 5 blue grapevines in conditions of southern Moravia. Machine set SAME S75 was used for mechanical pre-pruning that consisted of a tractor with side carried engine for pre-pruning by the OSTRATICKÝ company. From the results measured it is clear that there are differences between the evaluated varieties of cutting elaborateness. It can be lowered for performance of mechanical pre-pruning in 8-24%. This trend is most remarkable at varieties with a high number of bines and wild growth, for example Sauvignon, Red Traminer, Neronet and St. Laurent.
