History, present state perspectives scientific knowledge of Slovak mycology. Slovak mycology has a deep roots, originating from the work of such authorities as K. Kalchbrenner, F. A. Hazslinszky, J. A. Bäumler and A. Kmeť. At present mycological research is done at Slovak Academy of Sciences, University of Komensky in Bratislava, Technic University in Zvolen, Slovak National Museum and Various phytopatological and medical laboratories. Outstanding is the activity of the members of Slovak mycological society. For the future, of the primary interest is the taxonomy of fungi due to research of Slovak fungal flora and work on the checklist, which is prepared.
