The case of tuberculos in a pigeon | Bir güvercinde tüberküloz olgusu

In this report, the case of avian tuberculosis was presented in a 3 year-old female pigeon (Columba livia) was submitted for necropsy to the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara University. There were formations of grey-yellowish nodules with distinct borderlines, in different numbers and diameters on the surfaces of spleen, liver and lung in microscopy. Histopathologic examinations of the sections confirmed lesions being the nodules of tuberculosis. Indeed, a large number of tuberculosis bacilli were observed on the sections stained by Ziehl-Neelsen. The case (tuberculosis in a pigeon) described herein was considered interesting as there is a possible risk for cross-contamination of other animals being kept under the same cage conditions.

turc. Bu sunumda, Ankara Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Patoloji Anabilim Dalı'na nekropsi amacıyla getirilen üç yaşlı, dişi bir güvercinde (kaya güvercini) tüberküloz olgusu tanımlandı. Makroskobik incelemede, karaciğer, dalak ve akciğer yüzeyinde değişik büyüklükte ve sayıda, gri-sarımtırak renkte, kenarlarından sınırlı nodüler yapılar dikkati çekti. Histopatolojik incelemede bu lezyonların tüberküloz nodüllerinden ibaret olduğu gözlendi. Ayrıca kesitlere yapılan Ziehl- Neelsen boyası sonucunda bol miktarda tüberküloz basilleri gözlendi. Diğer kanatlı türleri ile aynı kümeste tutulması ve diğer hayvanlara da bulaşabilmesi nedeniyle dikkati çeken bir olgu olarak değerlendirilmiştir.
