Research on some technical foundation for producing seedling of rattan (Daemonorops poilanei) in nursery

Up to present, materials for producing seedling of rattan (Daemonorops poilanei) are mainly from seeds, but most of activities for producing seedling is based on common experiences, so efficiencies of seedling productionis not high and the demand of intensive forest plantation is solved with low level. There for, the finding of technical foundation for producing seedling in nursery stage for applying in the reality is very necessary. The article focuses on finding some technical foundation for producing seedling of Daemonorops poilanei species, including: technical foundation for seed storage, seed treatment for germinating, determinating reasonable tube-inner component,determinating rate of light cover and for determinating criteria of seedling suitable for forest plantation. Some findings of the article are: (i) - In seed storage, it is necessary to keep water content in seed of 10- 20%, do not decrease seed water lower than 10%. (ii)- Suitable conditions for germinating treatment are: seed water is 30.32- 30.90%, water temperature is 40-45oC, it's necessary to renew water in the process of seed treatment to remove some inhibited substances in embryo and endoderm, seeds are needed under the soil depth of 0.5 cm, the air temperature is maintained of 25oC.(iii)- The reasonable tube-inner components are: surface soil (87%) + decomposed muck (10%) + NPK (3%). (iv)- Rate of light cover for seedling at the age of 5, 8 and 10 months is 50 %; the seedling suitable for forest planting is nursed of 15-18 months. These technical foundations have been determined with basing on field experiments combining with inside analysis since 2006 up to present, so be reeliable for consideration and should be applied in the pratice.
