Research on wavebreak mangrove forest in some sea regions of Vietnam

This article presents some research results about wavebreak competence of mangrove forest in some sea areas of Vietnam and application to define the necessary width of wavebreak mangrove forest for specific sites. Research has described some structure characteristics of wavebreak mangrove forests in the representative sea sites of Vietnam. Results have quantified wavebreak competence of mangrove forests through exponential function equation with hight interrelation coefficient (R=0.96) between the wave height prior to forest band and the wave height altered distance into forest band. Based on this close interrelationship, it to be anle to specify the required forest band width in order to ensure wavebreak power by region with various b coefficient (b coefficient is parameters, which mainly depend on the forest structure charateristics). From that the table has been tabulated in order to refer to necessary forest band. This resarch is also the basis for methodology for continued research development in order to improve the wavebreak mangrove management in Vietnam.
