Twenty-five isolates of Pseudomonas spp. were isolated from rhizospheric soil of mungbean (Vigna radiata), soybean (Glycine max), Sesbania sesbna and Sesbania gradiflora in seven provinces (An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tien Giang, Kien Giang, Can Tho and Soc Trang) of the Mekong Delta. Five isolates had high inorganic phosphate solubility (30.1 to 36.2 mg P¬2¬O5/l) and isolate P18 solubilized the highest amount of phosphate (36.2 mg P¬2¬O5/l) in both sucrose-glucose-apatile medium and Pikovaskaya medium plus 1% apatile. All isolates synthesized IAA in King B medium supplemented with or without tryptophan, and two isolates P18 and P24 were the highest IAA-producing isolates, especially P18 isolate not only solubilized high amout of inorganic phosphate but also produced high level of IAA (10.812- 41.424µg IAA/ml in the medium without and with tryptophan respectively). This isolate is a potential biofertilizer producer.
