Hybrid Vodolei is developed by a team at Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute, Plovdiv as a result of hybridization between female line М-13 and male line B-1. The hybrid was tested in the Executive Agency for Variety Testing, Field Inspection and Seed Control in 2007 and 2008. It was recognised as a new hybrid by the Expert commission in 2009 and has a certificate №10849/ 26.02.2010 issued by the Patent Office of Republic of Bulgaria. By earliness and total yield Vodolei exceeds the standard UC- 82A and the most widespread in Bulgaria varieties from the same type. Being with good chemical and technological properties this hybrid is suitable for processing. Vodolei F1 does not defer to the control variety UC- 82A in content of substances with antioxidant effect like ascorbic acid and lycopene. The new hybrid is resistant to Verticilium wilt Verticillium albo-atrum, Fusarium wilt race 1 Fusarium oxsysporum f.sp. lycopersici, Black mold rot Stemphilium spp. and tolerant to potato late blight Phytophthora infestans. It is suitable for industrial growing according to the mid-early field production technology accepted in Bulgaria for determinate tomatos.
