A study was initiated to establish the contents of the main milk constituents and the somatic cell count in relation to productivity performance in Bulgarian Black and White cows. The tested number of individual milk samples was 923. The milk recordings were carried out during the spring-summer period - April to September of 2009. Milk productivity was expressed as mean daily yield of the recording day. The recorded traits are: milk fat - %, protein - %, somatic cell count - SCC/mL, butter yield - kg, and total protein yield - kg. The data subsets were formed as: class I – up to 20 kg daily milk yield, class II – 20 to 30 kg, class III – 30 to 40 kg, and class IV – over 40 kg. The information was processed using the conventional statistical procedure. The results indicate that with increasing the daily milk yield the percentages of fat and total protein decline, as well as the somatic cell count, while the yields of butter and protein increase.
