In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was analyzed harmfulness of Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) by an example of potato (Solanum tuberosum) recognized varieties of Belarusian breeding: early ripening Lazurit, and Delfin; middle-early Arkhideya, and Yavar; mid-ripening Skarb; middle-late Lasunak, and Zhuravinka; late ripening Orbita, Atlant, and Temp. An optimum time for carrying out the protective measures was determined. The maximal harmfulness of pest larva was stated at the period of full seedlings and flowering. The optimal term of realization of protection activities was the period when in the age-specific structure of the population there was marked the prevailance of larva of L2 age (40-50% of the total quantity). The coefficients were calculated and the qualitative evaluation of harmfulness made it possible to forecast the degree of plant leaf surface damage and potato yield decrease based on initial phytophage larvae number was given. The economic thresholds of the expediency of insecticides application considering the weather conditions, varietal peculiarities, yield level, potato purposeful use cultivated in different agroclimatic zones were developed.
