In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus as a result of studying of cultural, morphological, biochemical, virulent and immunogenic properties there were selected the most active strains of colon bacterium, salmonellas, klebsiellas, proteus strains with the frankest immunological and biological properties which were necessary for construction of a vaccine against gastrointestinal infections of calves. Research results showed that cultural, morphological and biochemical properties of different isolates of one and the same strain were the same or slightly differed. That is why the determinative factor of strain selection for the construction of vaccine became virulent and immunogenic properties of bacteria. There was marked correlation dependence between the following indexes: the higher was the LD50 the higher quantity of microbial cells was necessary for immunization. For the development of the bacterial vaccine there were selected the following strains: Klebsiella pneumonia KMIEhV V-106; Proteus mirabilis KMIEhV 44; Salmonella Dublin KMIEhV V-111; Salmonella tiphymurium KMIEhV V-128; E. coli F41-M KMIEhV-98; E. coli Att25-A20:O78 KMIEhV-39A; E. coli K99 KMIEhV-38.
