Economic analysis for the efficiency use of mineral and bio-fertilizers on saline soil

The research paper evaluates economic use of biofertilizer (Rhizobium radiobacter) and Mycorrhizal spores suspension combined with different rates of mineral N and P fertilizers under saline soil condition, cultivated with maize (Zea mays L), Triple hybrid 310. A field experiment was carried out in a private farm of El-Rowad village at Sahl- El Hossinia, Sharkia Governorate, in two successive summer seasons, 2007 and 2008. Mycorrhizal spores suspension was applied at rate 20 L fed-1 before planting. Moreover, phosphorus was applied at rates of 200, 150 and 100 kg superphosphate fed.1 Urea (46% N) was applied at rates 120, 90 and 60 kg N fed-'1combined with R. radiobacter at 10 L Fed.-1. The control was treated with the recommended dose of both nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. The results obtained showed that in spite of the soil which was treated with 90 kg N + 150 kg of superphosphate fed-1 combined with bio-fertilizer is the best treatment because it has a significantly decrease in EC (dSm -1) of soil with an increase of the released macro- micronutrients in soil after maize harvest during the two seasons. The economic analysis using the total approach and partial approach explored that the soil which was treated with 60 kg N + 100 kg of superphosphate fed -1 combined with biofertilizer showed the best benefit/cost ratio(1.46) and the highest net return at partial level. The soil treated with 90 kg N + 150 kg of superphosphate fed -1 combined with bio-fertilizer was the second best (1.39).
