The aim of this study was to analyse the use of alternative bedding materials (sawdust, cellulose, straw and rice husk) during the final fattening period of light lambs (n=96) on social behaviour and productive performance. The experimental design included four treatments (bedding material). The experiment was repeated twice. A total of 96 animals were studied (12 male lambs per group). Initial average live weight (+/-SD) was 19+/-1.1 kg Animals were housed in a pen of 11 square m, feeding was ad libitum with pellet concentrate. The production traits analyzed were live weight and concentrate consumption. The behavioural variables analyzed were stereotypes, agonistic and afiliative behaviours and interaction with bedding material, using video recording from 8AM to 8PM at day 1st, 8th and 12th. All behavioural variables were affected by treatments. The productive variables were not affected. Lambs from cellulose bedding presented more natural behaviour profile and could be recommended as the best bedding material for light lambs.
