2007
Dawit Alemu and Tekalegn Mamo
Farmers' perception about the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the improved field pea variety, Tegegnech, which was elicited using an attainment indices, show that relatively in all the stated attributes the improved variety Tegegnech had high values than the local one. This shows that farmers' had perceived the improved attributes of the improved field pea variety. Similarly, the result of the tobit analysis shows that farmers' perception about the yield potential and cooking quality of the varieties and extension service influenced positively the intensity of adoption of Tegegnech. Livestock ownership has negatively influenced the adoption of the technology. This is because farmers with higher number of livestock specialize in livestock production and give less emphasis to crop production.
