In order to determine yield stability and genotype × environment interaction, 40 barley varieties and lines (along with two checks) were evaluated in two separate experiments(A1 and A2) each consist of 20 genotypes, during cropping season 2007- 08 . Experiments were conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications in six stations of moderate region including : Karaj, Birjand, Zarghan, Varamin, Neishabour and Esfahan. Combined analysis of variance showed significant difference among locations, genotypes and genotype × location interactions in A1 and significant difference among locations and genotype × location interactions in A2. Mean comparisons of yield among genotypes using Duncan test showed that genotypes 5 and 13 in A1 and genotypes 3 and 1 in A2 had the highest yield, respectively. In overall, based on mean of grain yield, stability parameters (Ø and SDR) and important traits such as early maturity, resistance to diseases, lodging and cold tolerance, 18 genotypes were selected in both experiments and will be evaluated in elite barley lines yield trial of moderate zone in next year.
