The effect different levels of dry Scirpus Maritimus in the diet of lactating buffaloes in Khuzestan

The present experiment was conducted with the aim of possible utilization of Scaripus Maritimus dry forage in feeding of lactating buffalo. This experiment carried out with a Latin square design (4x4) on 4 lactating buffaloes, for each period the column of square was the number of parturition of buffaloes and the row was 4 periods of four weeks of feeding include 0 (ration 1), 33 (ration 2), 66 (ration 3) and 100 (ration 4) percent of Scaripus Maritimus replaced with roughage portion of the diet. The first two weeks were adaptation periods and the second two weeks were recording periods. Different traits include, daily milk production (Corrected 4 percent fat) fat and protein percentage of milk and dry matter intake were studied. The ratio of roughages to concentrate in different treatments was 50% roughages and 50% concentrate. The results showed that there were no significant differences between treatments in 5 level percentages for all factors. In this study daily milk production for different treatments (ration 1,2, 3,4) were 6.67, 6.30, 5.96 and 6.53 kg respectively. The average daily milk production (corrected for 4% fat) for treatments (1, 2, 3 and 4) were 8.4, 8.2, 7.6 and 8.4 kg respectively. On me basis of this experiment, the fat percentage of milk was 5.75, 6.11, 5.93 and 6.23 percent for ration 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. The lowest and the highest amount of milk protein were obtained in ration 3 (2.99%) and ration 2 (3.11 %). The average daily dry matter intake for different treatments (1, 2, 3 and 4) was 12.85, 11.68, 11.57 and 11.56% respectively. The finishing cost for the ration 4 (100 percent of Scaripus Maritimus) was lower than the other treatments. So it is suggested that the maximum amount of Scirpus Maritimns( ration 4) can be used in lactating buffalo ration.
