The till micromorphology examination in thin sections is a routinely used tool to study the formation of subglacial sediments, but the microstructures are described in subjective terms, and objective research methods are rare. In this work the spatial distribution of microfabric is examined in tills outcropping along the coastal cliffs of the Baltic Sea in Western Latvia, using a specially developed automated tool. A varied microfabric distribution in tills was found: domain-like, well developed unimodal or distinctly bimodal. It was concluded that the microfabric usually was similar to the macrofabric orientation, but the microfabric strength was significantly lower. It was concluded that the till microfabric distribution can indicate the processes active in the last stages of till formation.

Morēnas mikromorfoloģijas analīze plānslīpējumos tiek tradicionāli izmantota zemledāja nogulumu veidošanās pētījumos, tomēr mikrostruktūras tiek aprakstītas subjektīvi un reti tiek izmantota objektīvas izpētes metodes. Šajā darbā, izmantojot īpaši izstrādātu automatizētu paņēmienu, ir pētīts mikrolinearitātes telpiskais sadalījums morēnās, kas atsedzas Baltijas jūras stāvkrastos Rietumlatvijā. Ir konstatēts, ka morēnām raksturīgs daudzveidīgs mikrolinearitātes sadalījums: domēnu tipa, labi izteikts vienmodāls vai izteikti divmodāls. Ir secināts, ka vidējā mikrolinearitātes orientācija ir līdzīga makrolinearitātes virzienam, tomēr mikrolinearitāte ir būtiski vājāk izteikta. Ir secināts, ka, analizējot morēnas mikrolinearitātes telpisko sadalījumu, ir iespējams raksturot morēnas veidošanās pēdējās fāzes.
