It is possible to discuss the growth of productive cows by items of calves growth and development. The aim of the research was to evaluate body weight, heart girth, hip height and wither height of female calves until the age of six months. The research was carried out at Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU), in dairy farm ''Līgotnes'' of the Research and Study Farm ''Vecauce'', in a loose housing system. The research was carried out from November 2009 until March 2011. The control of body weight has been done to 77 calves once a month. The average body weight of calves at birth was 44.3 kg. There were significant differences of body weight of calves which were born in summer (42.6 kg) and winter (45.4 kg), the difference is 2.8 kg (p is less than 0.05). After the age of 4 months when calves were moved to heifer farm, it was noticed that their body weight and development items’ changes decreased.
