Study of the various NGOs involved in agricultural activities in Mastung district of Balochistan province

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) are engaged in a number of social and economic activities mostly in rural areas. Exact number of NGO's operating in the Pakistan in not known: However, according to National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) 3000 NGO's are registered with Corporate Law Authority (CLA) and many Social Organizations (SO's) have been registered with Provincial Social Welfare Departments. The question that to what extent these NGO's are effective is yet to be answered. Though the work of NGO's in Pakistan in under criticism, their role in Agriculture sector can not be ignored. Perception of NGO's regarding sustainable agriculture practices in Mastung district of Balochistan province were investigated in the study. Professional categorization was equal for both NGO's and farmers (50% each). 43% respondents were having the intermediate level of education. 70% of farmers were using irrigation.
