Results of breeding value evaluation of Polish Red and Simmental bulls

In the 2010/3 evaluation the multi-trait Blup Animal Model was used for evaluation of the breeding values of sires and cows. In the Red Polish breed, 274 sires and 3384 cows were evaluated; 47 per cent sires had 10 or more daughter. The cows calved in 558 herds and 2084 herd-year-season subclasses (HYS). The number of HYS subclasses decreased in the both second and third lactation. In the 2010/3 evaluation 1524 Simmental sires and 12197 cows were evaluated by the multi-trait Blup Animal Model; 270 sires had 10 or more daughter. The cows calved in 1449 herds and 4500 HYS subclasses. The number of HYS subclasses decreased in the second lactation by 23 per cent and the third lactation by 45 per cent
