The paper deals with the problem of developing a method for calculating water hammer in distribution networks when a pump station is cut off, but without taking into consideration all characteristics of the pumps. Solving the problem starts with the general equations that described water hammer phenomena with linearized energy losses, applying the modified method of characteristics which is described in the paper (1).
