The introduction of the paper gives the basic concepts of Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis - FMECA. Features of elements of mechanical systems regarding failure intensity (lambda(t) is not equal to const.) demand special approach of quantitative FMECA. The paper depicts this approach, applied for elements of mechanical systems and used for design of a software package. Based on exploitation results and using previously mentioned method and program, criticality analysis of failure modes was executed for the tie rod joint’s elements of a light trucks’ steering system.
