Today’s poultry is genetically engineered to be more productive. Selection is based on production parameters, ignoring the needs of such individuals that often suffer from metabolic disorders. Sudden death syndrome is one of the diseases that usually occur between the ages of 21 up to 28 days, affects healthy, vibrant birds that die in 1 to 2 minutes. Dead birds usually lay on their back; mortality in the flock is 1 to 2%. The causes of the disease are inadequate technology posture, nutrition, metabolic disorders and the rapid growth of broilers. The aim was to examine the impact of population density on the occurrence of sudden death syndrome. Housing conditions in the facility (temperature, humidity, light program) were in accordance with the manufacturer of the floor system. Inside the building three boxes were made, in which the densities were 12, 15, and 18 birds per square meter. Fattening lasted 42 days. We fed the broilers with complete feed mixtures for fattening, in accordance with the regulatory requirements of broilers. A pathoanatomical examination was carried out every day, on all dead chickens. The results of the examination of dead birds indicate that the population density of chickens have an impact on the frequency of occurrence of sudden death syndrome.
