Thermo wood itself represent an material with changed some basil estetical, physical as well as chemical properties, and consequently - the resistance against biological factors of destruction. Some properties of such materials, especially estetical and physical ones, use to be increased, while at the same time some others are described, so that, in dependence on prescribed use of such modified wood, its' utilization in practice should be defined. The biggest problem relating to thermically modified wood is decreasing its' resistance against wood decaying fungi, what restricts its' utilization in the condition of increased moisture and in ground contact. Investigation of biological resistance of thermo-wood against wood decaying fungi based on mass loss of infected samples, are beeing performed in numerous of countries in the aim of establishing of an optimal temperature treatment providing an minimal weight loss under the impact of test wood- decaying species of fungi. Some wood species are more appropriate for thermical modification than the others and temperature level during modification has influence on biological resistance of thermically treated wood.
