According to the results, it can be concluded that wild birds population in the Republic of Serbia has got presence of specific antibodies against avian influenza virus, Newcastle virus, Mycoplasmae synoviae and Mycoplasmae gallisepticum and for that, this population has to be the subject of regular surveillance programs, so in that way we could provide current epidemiological data. Based on those data we could, if there is a need, to undertake adequate protection measures for wild birds population and for health of people, too. It is needed for all physical contacts between wild birds population and poultry to be prevented. The fact that there is a possibility of transmission of these diseases from affected poultry on wild birds in wilderness should not be neglected as well.
