Tasić, S.
This monograph is a result of a five-year investigation into the quantitative and qualitative content of bacteria in four springs located in the higher area of the Vlasina mountain in south-eastern Serbia known as Topli Do. A total number of 6964 water samples were tested. The research was conducted during all four seasons with monthly samplings. The aim of the research was the isolation, biochemical characterization and identification of autochthonous dominant strains of Gram-negative facultatively aerobic anaerobic bacteria. The results were assessed from the aspects of biological, biochemical and biotechnological sciences for the sake of identificaton and determination of complex biochemical adaptations. The nvestigations are of a fundamental character and, as far as oligomineral spring water is concerned, they represent the first research of such a character in Serbia. The investigated springs belong to the group of newly-discovered water resources used for the purposes of the Vlasinka water factory. On the results, it could be concluded that the bacteriological status of the oligomineral water in the the investigated springs is in accordance with the regulations valid in Serbia and the European Union.
