The karst mini plateau of Susure, about 4.5 square km in surface area, is situated on the Jadovnik eastern slopes, in western Serbia. The plateau is a morphologic unit, which is 10 to 30 m higher than surrounding terrain in hypsometric terms. The unit lithologically consists of tectonically crushed and karstified Middle Triassic limestones. From all sides, except towards southeast, karst mini plateu is in tectonic contact with peridotites. Surface streams flow neither into nor off the plateau. Extracted atmospheric precipitations transform into underground filtration and evapotranspiration. More than eighteen constant springs at the limestone/peridotite tectonic contact drain fracture aquifers on the karst plateau border. On the basis of calculation of evapotranspiration and measurement of precipitation sums, preliminary balance of ground waters of karst mini plateau Susure was obtained. Through measurement of values on 18 springflows, verification of balance was performed on the basis of calculated evapotranspiration.
