By examining parasitic fauna in cage systems of Cogi in Boka Kotorska Bay (Montenegro), the presence of the following parasites: Diplectanum aequans, Trichodina spp., Amyloodinium ocellatum and Sphaerospora dicentrachi, was found on sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), while Sparicotyle chrisophrii, Amyloodinium ocellatum and Trichodina spp. were found on sea bream (Sparus aurata). In the cage system of Aqua D'or at the artificial lake of Piva (Montenegro) the following parasites: Trichodina spp., Eubothrium spp., Ichthyobodo necator, Hexamita salmonis and one unclassified parasite from the class of Monogenea were found in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The extensity infection caused by identified parasite species varied depending on the season, while the intensity was generally low and, therefore, no significant damage was noted in the cage systems. Minor pathomorphological and pathohistological changes were noted in the infected fish. Due to low intesity of parasitic fauna, no therapy administration was required. However, more intensive administration of prophylactic measures and regular veterinary surveillance could result in significant reduction in the presence of parasites and, consequently, more efficient performance.
