This work comprises research of effects that energetic additives based on propylene glycol used in cows fodder have on energetic status, ovary action and reproductive indicators, as well as on production and quality of milk. Research includes 60 HF and RHF breed cows and heifer in the high stage of pregnancy, on two farms of dairy cows in Vojvodina (Serbia), with average milk yield of 6693kg and 7144 kg throughout 2008. All cows were divided in three experimental groups (O1, O2, O3) each group of 20 cows. Cows from the group O1 have had 200 ml of Energy plus added to the fodder and O2 group has had 160 ml of Ketal, every day, throughout 14 days before calving, to 30 days postpartum. O3 group was a control group, without putting additives in the fodder. Usage of propylene glycol postpartum in the nutrition of high yielding cows influenced on higher percentage of gravidity after the first and the second insemination, service period was significantly shorter and the dose of semen per pregnant cow was decreased. However influence of the treatment with propylene glycol on ovary activity and foliculi dynamics had not been determined. Usage of energetic additives on the propylene glycol basis prevented origination of hypoglycemia at cows postpartum, whereby the highest glycemia in that period has been determined at cows treated with Ketal preparation. Values of other parameters of metabolic profile did not show significant deviations within the experimental period. Treatment with energetic additives on the basis of propylene glycol did not affect dynamic of physical condition in the postpartal period at high yielding cows. Affection of propylene glycol on milk production and milk quality utilization within the experimental period has not been determined.
