Placing unsafe food on the market is prohibited by the law. If there is reasonable suspicion that food could represent a risk to the health of consumers, members of the food chain are obliged to inform the public about the nature of risk to health and recall unsafe products. All entities in the food chain must put the interests of consumers above their own, regardless of the negative impact of food recall on the reputation or financial results. The paper presents levels of recall sequence of activities and economic consequences of product recall. Procedure of recall that results in complete and rapid withdrawal of the whole series of finished products from the market was described through practical experiences of Fidelinka Company Subotica (Serbia). The aim of this paper is to provide guidelines to organizations involved in food chain on how to recall unsafe products from the market.
