The toxicologo-hygienic examinations were conducted on male rats (2 groups, 50 individuals in each group). In the course of experiment lasting 182 days the rats received a semi-synthetic casein diet comprising a soybean meal based on 8.4 g/day. In the experimental group the soybean meal was produced from gene-modified soybean (GMS), in the control one – from its conventional analog. By quality values (the content of main nutrients) and safety (the content of heavy metals, residues of pesticides and heavy metals) the GMS and the analog did not differ. The palatability of the feed in both groups was 20-25 g/day per rat. The dynamics of increment in the body weight in the groups coincided. Morphological, hematological and biochemical investigations have not revealed, either, any differences among the experimental and control animals. The death occurrence of liver cells in both groups was comparable. It is concluded about the absence of toxic effect of GMS on experimental rats
