Streamsediments are considered a qualitative indicator of the environment from the environmental point of view. According to the methodology used in the study area, the Čaradice stream represents an area that has been permanently threatened by two sorts of contaminants, the physical and the chemical ones as well. The most important is the interaction between the water of the sediments and inappropriate anthropogenic activity (irresponsible gardening and agricultural activities), various waste materials in wild dumps, etc. The intensity of potentional contamination depends on the sediments not polluted by risky chemical substances, without observable signs of antropogenic pollution, without negative effects on organisms, up to the sediments with documented presence of pollution. From the present contaminants there are particularly risky the chemical elements cadmium and mercury. In the study area of the Čaradice streamsediment the samples were being collected from 2005 to 2009. The concentrations of cadmium in the range from 0.0 to 3.4135 mg/kg Cd of dry matter, and mercury in the range of 0.018 to 1.1162 mg/kg Hg of dry matter were found. The analyses of the sediments samples were carried out (certificate No. 01871/101/1/2001) by the flow electrochemistry methods (EcaFlow 150GLP). It can be stated that concentrations of the observed chemical elements in the sediments varied within the commonly accepted natural content (sometimes there occurred unique anomalies of local importance). From the research it can be concluded that various antropogenic pollution and intensive traffic constitute an important source of contaminating elements and compounds for the sediments and their ecosystem of the observed area.
