Effect of MERATM Cid on preventing Vibrio harveyi in rearing of pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) was conducted under laboratory conditions. Test was divided in two treatments, control and MERATM Cid 0.5 percent with four replicates per treatment. Each replicate consisted of 50 shrimp (2-3 g) in 500-liter tanks (30 shrimp/tank). After 7 days of experiment, V. harveyi were added to final concentration of 103 CFU/ml. Hemolymphs were collected from both control and treatment groups at days 10, 20 and 30 after adding V. harveyi. Results showed that shrimp fed with MERATM Cid 0.5 percent had total bacteria and Vibrio spp. in hemolymphs significantly lower than control group (P LT 0.05). Total bacteria and Vibrio spp. in hemolymphs from treatment group decreased from (3.42 +- 1.73)*10**(7) CFU/ml, (7.80 +- 3.38) )*10**(4)CFU/ml at day 10 to (1.79 +- 0.43)*10**(7) CFU/ml, (4.60 +- 3.03)*10**(4)CFU/ml at day 30. Meanwhile total bacteria and Vibrio spp. in hemolymphs from control group at day 10 (5.12 +- 2.47)*10**(7) CFU/ml, (13.55 +- 6.37)*10**(4)CFU/ml) were similar to day 30 (4.16 +- 0.95)*10**(7)CFU/ml, (12.80 +- 7.68)*10**(4)CFU/ml). Survival rate of shrimp from treatment group was 90.50 +- 0.92 percent significantly higher than the control group of 78.00 +- 1.51 percent. Results from the present study indicate that application of MERATM Cid 0.5 percent can reduce the number of V. harveyi and mortality rate of L. vannamei.
