Venka 1 is white spiked, awned wheat variety with red grains – Triticum aestivum L. var. Еritrospermum. It was created at DAI – General Toshevo via inter varietal crossbreed 754/90 x Dobrotitsa. It was obtained after the conventional pedigree method by breeding of elite spikes in the early hybrid generations. The selection and testing were made at IASS Obraztsov Chiflik – Rousse. Venka 1, the created common winter wheat variety distinguished with high productive potential, result of a good productive tilling capacity and high grain content in a spike. The high resistance to the economically important wheat diseases, the very good winter and cold tolerance, the early ripening and the successful adaptability to the growing environment allowed it to realize in maximum its productive potential. The technological traits determined it as a wheat variety with medium baking strength. The variety was recognized as an original one and was registered in the Variety List of the country by the Expert Commission of the Executive Agency on Variety Testing, Approbation, and Seed Control in 2009.
